Sultry, Smokey, Sexy all describe the stylings of Lynn Bush. The epitome of a Jazz singer and she got her start right here in Oklahoma City.

One thing that we all love to see is our musicians making a musical name for themselves. While Oklahomans hated to lose the inimitable songstress, we all wished her well when she ventured to the West Coast, and she is still making us proud.

Lynn started singing professionally at the age of 18. She valued the knowledge and the musicianship of those who came before her and always tried to place herself in a venue where the best of the best would be. She thrilled us with her stylings backed by local bands and she stretched her wings to make a guest performance with jazz great Max Roach. She even opened for the last performance of Buddy Rich in the Oklahoma City area.

When Lynn left and headed to Seattle, we knew that we would hear lots more from her - and, of course, we have. With her debut album, "Still Life," she has received rave reviews from some of the toughest critics around:

eJazzNews
"Lynn Bush is no stylistic imitator."

JazzTimes
"... blessed with a smoky voice that recalls the alluring sang-froid of Julie London, "

All About Jazz
"She is the complete jazz singer. Her voice invites the listener into an emotional world that is mesmerizing."

All Music Guide
"...a true mistress of her art with her flawless diction and intonation. But more important, she is a singer who manages to give each tune a personal, intimate flavor"

Jazz Steps
"...a tremendous first start for Lynn on Origin Records. Here's hoping for more."

Seattle Weekly
"... the power to make a lyric mean something, and a natural musicality that's too real and too subtle to ever be showy."

Earshot Jazz
"...she laces a selection of standards ... with an affecting sadness, and a maturity that makes you believe words"

Lynn Bush was nominated for Earshot’s Golden Ear Northwest Vocalist of the Year in 2004. She will be included in Scott Yanow’s upcoming compilation on jazz vocalists, “The Jazz Singers” scheduled for release in 2005.
